Internationally acclaimed concert pianist Gustavo Romero, first prize winner of the Clara Haskill International Piano Competition, returns to Knoxville by popular demand to present an all-Granados program commemorating the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth.

Featuring piano music by Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, and Liszt. Yang received his doctorate in piano performance at the University of Houston under the instruction of Abbey Simon, and is currently faculty at Xiamen Institute of Technology.

6:00 pm UT School of Music Guest artist recital: Shawna Pennock, saxophone
Born from a passion of Ms. Pennock’s to create better ways for saxophonists to experience extended techniques for the first time, this recital program is filled with pieces to help engage young saxophonists in the world of extended techniques. Works by up and coming composers Joel Love, Sam Lipman, Al Theisen, and Corey Dundee explore multiphonics, vocalizing, slap tongue, and microtonality on soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. Get ready to get weird with saxophonist Shawna Pennock, and pianist Greg Hankins.
