7:30 pm UT School of Music Guest lecture: David Bynog, lecture
Bynog will discuss the historic 1919 viola and piano composition competition and his research identifying some of the 72 pieces which were submitted anonymously, some of which have never been performed.

8:00 pm UT School of Music Faculty recital: Hillary Herndon, viola and Bernadette Lo, piano
This program will feature Bloch's 1919 Suite, Clarke's Sonata, and 6 other pieces identified by viola scholar, David Bynog, as some of the 72 anonymous works submitted to the 1919 composition competition. Herndon will perform movements from each piece during the first half of the performance, with the audience voting on a “winner” during intermission. Herndon will perform the winning composition in full during the second half of the recital.
